Adoption on hold.

Well, due to some financial stuff, the adoption is on hold. At first I was so sad and disappointed. This means that we won't be able to travel with my sister. But then I started thinking maybe this has happened for reason. I think we are meant to adopt a waiting child. (For those who don't know, that means a child with special needs, usually minor). There are so many children who need a home who might not get one otherwise. So even though we have to wait a little longer, I am excited about it. So we will save up some money and ask our agency to keep an eye out for a child around Gracie's age with a minor special need and then submit our paperwork. The good news is that the wait is usually shorter, so it probably won't add that much time to our wait! We still need to think about what kind of special need we would be willing to accept. Probably a cleft pallate(SP?) or something like that.

It's best to wait until all is well financially..these adoptions are so costly, and you've already been through one! Plus, you have been talking about special needs for awhile, so obviously that is what is in your heart.

Hope you aren't too sad..

I'm bummed you won't be coming with us too. But that's O.K. Everything does happen for a reason, and maybe the child that is meant for you isn't quite ready yet. You'll know when the time is right.

Geez girl! I had no idea you were going for #3. You're a braver woman than I. :)

A WC is a wonderful decision... and I have to agree with you and the others, it is best to wait until things are settled... you don't need a financial burden hanging over your head during what is alread an anxious time!

Look forward to hearing when you're ready (does that make sense??)!

Well you know how I feel about adopting a WC. We already feel like we have two daughters even though one is very far away for now.

Tracey is wonderful and will help you find the child that is perfect for your family. Do you really think you'll try to find a child who is Gracie's age? As you know, our 2nd daughter will be almost exactly Gwen's age. We didn't set out to do that but it just worked out that way. Now we're excited about it!

Have you been following Esther's blog (http://tochina4esther.blogspot.com/)? She's 3 and is a CL/CP cutie from Gwen's SWI. Her new family just got her this week and I've been unable to pull my eyes away from their blog ever since!
