Look! A Stalactite! Or is it a Stalagmite?

Do you know the difference? Cuz' I do! We went to the Mercer Cavern and went down into this cave. Pretty cool! See below for answer...

*Answer: A Stalagcite is a formation that grows from dripping down from the ceiling of the cave. A stalagmite is one that grows up from the ground...* Posted by Picasa
I have been corrected-it is stalactite, thanks Allyn!

i'm used to hearing the word "stalactite" for the ones that grow on the ceiling. the way you remember which is which is stalactite has a c like ceiling and stalagmite has a g like ground. that trick still works with stalagcite.
